Diving FAQ’s

Below is a list of our most frequently asked questions about diving here.  If we did not address the question here, or if you need a more depth answer, or more information, please contact us.

  1. What is the water temperature and do I need a wetsuit? – Subic Bay water temperatures are usually in the 80 – 84 degrees F, 27 – 30 degree C range.  A 2-3mm shorty wetsuit is fine for most people although a lot of divers prefer a 3mm full suit for abrasion protection.  Many will also dive in board shorts and a rash guard.   We have both shorty’s and full suits available for rent.
  2. What time are your dives? – We have two boats and typically they will leave close to 9am for two dives in the morning with the surface interval on the boat between dives.  In the afternoon we normally plan one dive leaving at 2pm, although we typically require at least 2 paying divers to dive in the afternoon.
  3. How do I know what wrecks I will dive? – “Accommodating” is our middle name!  We try to meet the needs of all of our guests.  We will work with you and the other divers prior to each boat trip to plan dives that will fulfill everyones needs based on prior dives, wants and abilities.
  4. What equipment should I bring? – You honestly don’t need to bring anything as we have it all.  If you are bringing equipment, don’t forget a dive light (torch) and your dive computer.
  5. I really want to dive the USS New York.  – Is this going to be a problem? – The USS New York is our most requested dive site.   Many divers come to Subic Bay with this wreck dive specifically in mind.  The USS New York is located in the middle of Subic Harbor in the middle of the Harbor shipping lanes.  As a result, we have to have permission from the Subic Bay Municipal Authority (SBMA) Seaport and the SBMA Harbor Patrol prior to a dive.  If there is no ship movement during our requested time, this is granted.  If there is ship movement, it is declined.  If you are staying and diving with us for a couple of days you have a better chance of making sure you dive this historic wreck.
  6. I want to dive Nitrox, can I? – Absolutely.  We blend up to 40% and and we recommend it on some dives for more dive time.  You must be EAN Nitrox certified, but if you are not, we can get you there pretty fast with our PADI Enriched Air Divers Course.  Plus our course includes 2 fun dives with Nitrox!
